[ He stops. Stares. Takes in the differences between the Sam he knew and the one standing before him. ]

[ Obviously. But it's the first thing that comes to mind. Without his powers, nothing else stands out. ]

[ He doesn't quite understand the sentiment curling inside him, but it tugs at the corner of his mouth and softens his eyes. ]
