ABILITIES:
HERE

SUITABILITY:

Castiel is an angel of the Lord. He's a soldier who has faced down angels and demons. He's gone to Hell to break out a soul and has seen a great manner of horrors in his lifetime without faltering. He has a strong will and strength of mind that allows him to keep a level head no matter the circumstances. He's usually the one acting first when faced with demons and monsters protecting others when they're caught off guard. The only time he's faltered is when his faith has been tested by the actions of Gods and angels making psychological horrors his Achilles Heel. However, he's been able to come to terms with the actions of God and the angels making even this route a lot easier to confront than he would have otherwise. His garrison was stationed near earth and he's watched humanity from it's infancy observing their bloodiest wars and atrocities without faltering. He approaches most things with facts. He works off logic so taunting him doesn't work. He doesn't have 'pride' to lead him astray as it once did when he believed angels were always right. The only time he's prone to be led astray is when his emotions get involved. The easiest way to get him riled is to threaten someone he wants to protect. All in all, he's mentally equipped to deal with the setting.

PERSONALITY.

Your character has a chance to undo a terrible mistake, but in doing so, there could be unintended consequences for everyone they know. Is it worth the risk? Or should the dead stay dead?

If your character had the option to permanently lose the ability to feel certain negative emotions like fear or grief, or permanently forget certain memories, would they take it? What if they will never know that something has been taken from them? Does loss only matter if it's known what's missing?

Could your character ever forgive themselves for something morally wrong that they've done? No matter how much time has passed? No matter how much penitence has been done? Is being sorry enough to be a good person?

Your character has a secret they have been sworn to, but revealing this secret could save the lives of countless others. Is it worth breaking the promise to save others, or is betrayal never justifiable?

Has your character ever gotten joy out of hurting others, physically or mentally? If they have, does it scare them?

IC
Name: Castiel
Canon: Supernatural
Canon Point: S6. E20. The Man who would be King.
Age: Eons. Looks ~30's.
Appearance: Here
Abilities: Power Section

(Optional) Personality:

First and foremost, Castiel is a celestial being. He was created by God to serve as an agent of fate. He, along with the other angels, is hardwired with ‘factory settings’ and exists in a rigid caste system that allows for no change in designation. Angels are supposed to be “perfect, like a marble statue. Cold. No Choice. Only obedience.” Those who disobey are hunted down and killed without mercy which makes Castiel’s rebellion against Heaven all the more astounding.

Castiel is first introduced as a warrior of God with a very militant and commanding personality. He considers himself a soldier of Heaven. His convictions run deep because he has faith in God and believes the ends justify the means. Due to this, he often clashes with his charge, Dean Winchester, who becomes the catalyst for his fall. Dean constantly questions the morality of his orders and argues against their validity. At first, Castiel defends them with full conviction because they are from God, but as his orders become less and less moral they become difficult to defend. When he starts to show doubt he is dragged back to Heaven and disciplined. On his return, he falls back in line but Dean once again forces him to face the facts about Heaven. “This is simple Cas! No more crap about being a good soldier. There is a right and there is a wrong here, and you know it!” His doubts once again take root when he realizes that God is no longer in Heaven and the orders he’s been so judiciously following are actually from high ranking angels. His faith is tested when he finds out that Heaven is actively working to start the Apocalypse and complete the ‘grand story’ of good vs evil (Michael vs Lucifer) because they believe they can win. The angels have no regard for the millions of human casualties that will result from their war with Hell. Castiel loses faith altogether when he finds out that God - who he’s been so diligently searching for to help them stop the Apocalypse - has known all along what his children have been up to and feels that it’s not his problem. For a time, he is lost but it’s the Winchester’s will to fight against their fate (becoming the vessels of Michael and Lucifer) despite all odds and their devotion to one another that spurs him into action. Castiel has never seen such loyalty among his brethren who so easily turned on him despite eons of so-called friendship. His Father once told the angels to love humans more than him and Castiel is surprised to realize that he does. “He’s in love - with humanity.” He comes to admire them and in the end, sacrifices everything to keep them safe. He rebels against Heaven and together with the brothers, they end up tearing up the ‘Grand Ending’ and stopping the Apocalypse.

During this time, Castiel goes through a great transition from the obedient warrior of god to freedom fighter as the lone angel on humanity’s side. Despite this transition, there are many key traits that are still a part of his core personality. He’s been a foot soldier of the Lord for eons and his militant personality is there to stay. He functions on logic and is a great tactician. He’s a deadly warrior because he’s unpredictable. For example, he carved an angel banishing sigil into his chest with a box cutter before entering a fight against several angels. The angels were not expecting his counter move and were promptly banished allowing the Winchesters to gain entry into the area. The reason Castiel is unpredictable is that he’s open to change. He’s adaptable and so long as there is a logical explanation he’s willing to change strategy. This also applies off the battlefield in that he’s willing to try something new without much prompting. He's open and curious, despite the rigid structure of angel social dynamics. Angels are known for their rigidness so the fact that Castiel is so easily malleable to new situations is a testament to how different he is from other Angels.

Castiel follows his moral compass with conviction and prides himself in being an angel of the Lord. However, once he turns his back on Heaven he only has his own moral code to guide him and here is where he reveals many of his faults. “The road to Hell is paved with good intentions”. Like all angels, Castiel still believes that the ends justify the means. After the Apocalypse is averted Heaven falls into a Civil War with one side lead by the Archangel Raphael who wants to kickstart it back up and the other side, lead by Castiel, who means to stop them. He prepares his plan of attack with only the big picture in mind - they need to stop Raphael - and fails to realize that the details matter - how they stop him. He makes a deal with Crowley, the King of Hell, in order to gain power and stop Raphael. During this time, he also displays arrogance and pride when he tells Dean he’s the only one who can stop Raphael. He vehemently believes he’s doing God’s work. Why else would God resurrect him, not once but twice, and raise his status from that of a regular angel to a Seraphim? The other angels seem to think so to and attach themselves to his cause. Angels need a leader to follow, it’s in their programming and Castiel, who was touched by God, becomes their beacon of hope. However, Castiel is too busy fighting against Raphael and his forces that the fails to realize he's lost his way. This is seen plainly when he comes across a child in the possession of a weapon of Heaven. He seeks him out, kidnaps him and proceeds to read his soul, a painfully invasive procedure with a severe mental toll. Castiel doesn't physically harm the child, but he causes him great pain without thought or consent. Dean are horrified by his blatant lack of sympathy and calls him out on it which when he first starts to question himself. The problem is, Castiel and the other angels have spent eons justifying their actions for the greater good and with only angels surrounding him (Sam and Dean are mostly in the dark), he has no one to question the morality of his actions.

Castiel’s strong convictions are a double-edged sword since it’s these strong convictions that first led him to rebel against Heaven. However, he is constantly worried if he’s doing the right thing. Without Heaven to guide him, he can only rely on himself and in the long run his decisions prove to be no more 'righteous' than those of most humans. Free will is what led him to go against Raphael, it’s what drives him to rally the angels who believe he is 'God's Chosen' to his side. It’s what led him into temptation and has him striking a deal with the King of Hell for power and why he did it behind the backs of his friends, Sam and Dean. He justifies his actions with logic, but logic without emotion breeds coldness. The same coldness angels are known for and despite his best intentions, Castiel makes one bad decision after another until it all comes snowballing down on him and his deception is discovered by the people he cares most about. It’s a humbling experience to realize that even a celestial being can fall victim to their own good intentions. He finally admits to himself that he has no clue if what he’s doing is right anymore. He comes to view free will as a double-edged sword too. For all that he spoke about free will, he ended up being led astray by it. In the end, specifically during this canon point, he comes to view freedom as "a length of rope" that "God wants you to hang yourself with". Without the moral support of Sam and Dean to bring him back when he strays, Castiel becomes lost in his own good intentions.

Thankfully, there is more to Castiel than his moral battles. He's a soldier, but he's also a misfit. His friends call him Cas and it's this side of him, feels so very much. He doesn’t always recognize the intensity of his feelings but they are easy to see as shown when he confronts Dean for leaving to say ‘Yes’ to Michael and become his vessel. Dean's choice invokes such intense feelings (betrayal, anger, adversity, etc), the damn finally breaks and he lashes out, slamming him around in an alley furious with him for giving in to Heaven. “I rebelled for this?! So that you could surrender to them? I gave everything for you, and this is what you give me?!” Angels aren’t supposed to display emotions, let alone so intensely. Emotions are doorways to doubt which can impair their judgment which is why they’re disciplined when they begin to show more than the standard cold, marble face. Cas isn't often aware of his emotions so he gives them no voice until they overwhelm him. In addition, he has no clue that every one of them is clearly painted on his face. The fact that he doesn't lie makes it even easier to read him since his heart is so often on display. He wears his heart on his sleeve, unintentionally, and is painfully honest and blunt. He doesn’t lie because he sees no point in it. He’s watched humanity for thousands of years but has no clue how to interact with them. He’s usually quiet and reserved only speaking when addressed or when he has something pertinent to add to a conversation. He has no clue how to be casual and often displays the depths of his naivety when interacting with regular people. Many pop-culture references go over his head and he often fails to decipher when a joke is being made and addresses it with serious intent. Cas is curious about humanity and it's this side of himself that slowly falls his Father's creations.

Castiel and Cas are two sides of the same coin. Two sides of one angel. He’s prone to deep loyalty and obedience. "If Dean says it's time to go out in a blaze of glory, win or lose, so be it. I'm in, but then, that's how I roll." He has doubts but still keeps faith. He doesn’t always know if what he's doing is right but he always does what he thinks is right and often fails. He fails to rescue Sam’s soul from Hell, fails to go against Raphael on his own. Castiel fails a lot but he always gets back up. He’s a soldier. He has the strength of will to keep fighting despite the odds against him. However, this isn’t always a good thing. One of Castiel’s many failures is his inability to ask for help. When the Civil War with Raphael first began, Castiel wanted to ask Dean for help but in the end he chose self-sacrifice instead. He never asks for help even when he needs it. He’s self destructive and puts himself in harms way several times like when he planed to confine Raphael inside a circle of Holy Fire knowing full well that any single mistake will get him killed. He’s died twice already because he faced off against a being (archangel) much stronger than him knowing he had no chance of surviving the encounter. God resurrected him twice and even made him a Seraphim, a stronger angel. Still, Castiel has yet to learn self-preservation. He’s a soldier, all he knows is how to go to war. He knows how to form a battle plan, the skills to execute it, a tactician's mind to improvise when the plan goes to shit and the conviction to see it through to the end without wavering, but he’s never given a thought to what happens after. Outside the battlefield he has no idea what to do with himself. Free will or not, Castiel has never made any plans for himself. He can't pursue what he wants because he's never given thought to what he wants. He’s been a soldier the entirety of his existence and has never given a thought to how to live after the fighting's done.

Castiel fought for Heaven for eons without question, later gave his allegiance to humanity by following the Winchester's, but Castiel has never fought for himself. He’s never given a thought to what he wants. Angels aren't supposed to want anything. They’re supposed to serve. That's their role, what they were programmed to be, and despite his rebellion, Castiel has yet to rid himself of this notion. However, as time goes on, he’s slowly finding his place in the world. It’s not in Heaven and it’s not among humans, but with the other misfits in his life - the Winchester’s. He still considers himself their guardian and they give him something tangible to hold onto, a reason to fight. Sam and Dean help him find his way when his moral compass fails him, they help him see the details, care about the people the 'big picture' affects. They teach him about culture and show him another way to live. And so, he's begun to grow comfortable with them and at times even sasses them. He's slowly starting to realize that his place is at their side, his home, something Castiel has never known despite his eons of existence.

Note: Castiel can hear prayers from anywhere in the world, so feel free to call on him anytime and he'll show up. Please use his name first ('Cas get out here') and post a link below. I'll have Castiel 'fly' over and show up ICly into any action/log thread. You can also use his name without the intention of calling on him and post it below. It's the angel equivalent of butt-dialing. I'm open to any and all butt-dials, so it's not necessary for your character to know him all that well, or to even have met him.

Emotions are doorways to doubt which can impair their judgement which is why they’re disciplined when they begin to show more than the standard cold, marble face. Many pop culture references go over his head and he often fails to decipher when a joke is being made and addresses it with serious intent. Cas is curious of humanity and it's this side of himself that slowly falls his Father's creations.

He’s a been a soldier the entirety of his existence and has never given a thought to how to live after the fighting's done.

Weaknesses/Temptations:

Castiel has been lead astray before by his heart. It's the easiest way to sway him off the path of redemption. The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. If he thinks he is doing the 'greater good', he has no problem doing the unpleasant especially if it means protecting his wards, the Winchester's.

  ☄ IC

♚ MEDICAL INFO: Castiel's vessel is Jimmy Novak who was a healthy normal human. Jimmy died when Castiel was disintegrated on a molecular level. When he was resurrected by God, Jimmy's soul was already in Heaven. He's now the sole occupant of his vessel. Castiel has full control of every aspect of his vessel and does not adhere to human 'needs'. His vessel is a stamp in time, it will not change and if injured he'll heal himself and remove any trace of violence even from his clothes. He does all this via his grace. However, if his grace is depleted he's your basic normal human. Like all angels, his senses are enhanced; more information can be found in his power section linked below.
♚ MENTAL INFO: Castiel is a tactician. He's been a warrior of god for eons and has a sharp mind when it comes to strategy.
♚ TRIGGERS: Castiel has lived for eons, fought against angels and demons, and killed all sorts of monsters in between. He has no real triggers aside from threats to those he cares about. "If you touch a hair on their heads, I will tear it all down."
♚ TELEPATHY/MIND READING: Like all angels, he's a telepath. Would not suggest mind reading. The last person who tried to look upon him via his mind had their eyes burnt out. "Only certain people, special people" from certain bloodlines can gaze upon his true form and live.
♚ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: He's a soldier.
Violence has always been a part of his life. Though, it should be noted that Castiel does not strike unless provoked. He will not attack without a reason and he won't attack humans unless they truly get under his skin and he loses his temper.
♚ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Castiel is both naive and all knowing. He's watched humanity since their creation. He knows all the basic information about sex, but doesn't understand emotions or romantic relationships. He'll be puzzled by physical affection but not reject it unless it's overbearing (looking at you Cupids!). He's also a soldier, so if it's more of an attack, he'll take it as such. Otherwise, he'll simply accept it. He has no reason not to considering he has no concept of personal space. He'll welcome any affection from those he's closest to because he understands that it's how humans demonstrate their feelings. What type of affection he'll accept depends on how close he is to the other person.
♚ RELATIONSHIPS: Open to any relationships: friend, foe, sass buddies, romantic, enemy, etc. Angels are programmed to be obedient and loyal. They were made to serve and any emotion is stamped out of them with a bit of reprogramming. Castiel has broken from that mold. Yet, he has little experience with emotions and doesn't always recognize his own feelings, let alone the intensity of them. He's not shy just inexperienced when it comes to human relations and he's always open to new experiences.
♚ SHIPPING PREF:
Strong convictions. Castiel is a battering ram. Anyone who can stand up to his convictions and not falter will always earn his respect and interest.

Abilities/Powers || Nerfing/Warping || Weakness

Type

Seraphim - a higher class of angel just below an archangel.

Grace - a type of celestial energy that resembles a shining bluish-white mist. It's what makes them different from humans. While humans have souls which have been described as nuclear reactors, angels have grace instead of a soul. An angel's grace gives them access to Enochian magic, which is how they use their abilities. When an angel uses too much of their grace, they need time to recharge it. When an angel loses its grace they gain a soul and become human. However, they can still tap into varying powers including their ability to tune into 'angel radio' via mass telepathy angels use to communicate. If an angel loses their grace, so long as they can recover it they will turn back into an angel.

Wings - all angels have wings which symbolize their status as celestial beings. Wings are a representation of an angel's  strength and the potency of their grace which is why they tend to display their wings to intimidate their enemies. The shadow of their wings can be seen through Astral Projection. When an angel dies their wings are seared onto the surface on which their vessel is lying. Angels need their wings in order to apport, teleport, and travel through time.

Powers

Angelic Possession -
needs to use and possess a human vessel to physically interact while on Earth. As an angel, he requires the vessel's permission.

Astral Projection – the ability to extend at least a portion of one's body outward to the astral world. Angels use this to display their wings to non-celestial beings who's senses are too dull to see their wings. Castiel projected his wings to Dean to prove he was an angel when Dean didn't believe him. Projecting one's true self can be harmful and chaotic to the outside world. As a Seraph, Castiel's true visage is far more hazardous and far more terrifying to creatures such as humans, demons, and other earthly monsters since angels tend to display their wings in order to intimidate their enemies.

Dream Walking – ability to communicate to someone through their dreams. Angels use this ability when they can't go to, or locate a human they wish to communicate with.

Warp: will feel as if something is constantly watching him.

Electromagnetic Interference - ability to manipulate electrical devices, he caused a dozen car alarms to stop just by raising his hand. When an angel uses their powers it usually messes with electronics causing lights to flicker, spark or explode.

Voice Mimicry – angels can perfectly mimic anyone's voice due to their perfect control of their vessels. Castiel once perfectly imitated Bobby Singer's voice.

Super Stamina - ability to indefinitely go on without sustenance or rest. Angels never tire and they do not require anything to sustain themselves.

Super Strength – ability of one's muscles to exert force beyond what is physically possible for a human. An angel can dramatically increase the physical strength threshold of their vessel.. It's established that Castiel can lift a ton without too much effort.

Super Senses - angels operate on a different plane of existence and enhance their vessel's senses to superhuman levels. All angels can integrally hear, see, taste, and smell everything on an extremely superhuman level.
*Hearing: so attuned, they can hear any and all spoken prayers from anywhere on Earth.
     * See: can see atoms and see inside person past their physical form to see their soul. Castiel was able to see
a symbol on a person's heart that was so small Sam needed a microscopic lens to see it, he saw the true faces of demons from a far enough distance that Dean needed binoculars. In his alternate timeline, he knew right away that Dean was not the right Dean of his timeline with merely a glance.
     * Touch: deadly or healing touch

     * Taste: taste every molecule in food/liquors
     * Smell: can identify genes and hormones by simply smelling the body, bone or blood regardless of its condition. Castiel was able to tell the Winchesters had chosen the bone of Sister Mary Constant just by sniffing it. He was able to tell demon blood from human blood and discovered a person's identity and prior medical conditions just by smelling their corpse.

Pyrokinesis –
ability to manipulate and generate fire. Castiel set a bag of bones aflame. He also showed this ability to put out Holy Fire with a wave of his hand while it wasn't containing him.

Telekinesis – ability to move or otherwise exert force on inanimate objects from a short distance without physical contact. Castiel used this ability to open a water valve when investigating a demon's escape, and later to open Bobby's Panic Room to let Sam escape.

Nerfed Powers + Power Warping

Localization - ability to locate a soul not protected by Enochian sigils.
Nerf: only w/permission.

Telepathy –
ability to read a human's thoughts. Angels are able to read the minds of other angels if given permission and send messages to others. They commonly communicate using mass telepathy known as 'Angel Radio'.
Nerf: only w/permission.
Warp: from time to time, he will hear a soft voice murmuring incoherently that sounds like the voice he was first greeted with on his arrival.

Sedation – ability to render a human unconscious by touching them. All angels possess this ability.
Nerf: only work on characters w/permission. If event monsters/situations are part of the plot, then this ability will abide by the event/monster rules.

Immortality – angels, even in their vessels, don't age and can't be killed by disease, toxins or earthly weapons that inflict mortal damage. Angels don't tire. They don't need to eat, sleep, drink, or breathe to sustain themselves or even their vessel.
Nerf:
if event monsters/situations are part of the plot, then this ability will abide by the event/monster rules and cause harm or death.

Invulnerability - ability to withstand regular physical damage, causing little or no harm or pain to the angel. When Dean tried to punch Cas, he hurt his arm while Cas barely even noticed. However, supernatural strength will send an angel flying. Angels can be shot and stabbed drawing blood.
Nerf: if event monsters/situations are part of the plot, then this ability will abide by the event/monster rules and cause harm or death.

Supernatural Perception - ability to perceive what would normally be invisible to humans such as ghosts,  reapers, certain monsters, magical sigils, the true faces of demons, and hear other angels through 'angel radio' or electromagnetic waves.
Nerf: if event monsters/situations are part of the plot, then this ability will abide by the event/monster rules.

Temporal Awareness -
angels are aware whenever any alteration occurs in the time-stream, allowing them to discern changes to the timeline.
Nerf: if event monsters/situations are part of the plot, then this ability will abide by the event/monster rules.

Healing – ability to remove injuries, sickness, and wounds through physical contact. This ability is included in the 'miracle repertoire' of all angels. Thus, angels can
heal wounds, diseases, and toxins of another being instantaneously.
Nerf: will work but deplete his grace much faster, prompting him to rest for longer periods of time.
Warp: if healing someone who is within 10 ft of another person that person will take on their injuries.

Regeneration – ability to heal wounds and injuries beyond that of a normal person. This is similar to a healing factor. If an angel's vessel is damaged it will repair itself nearly instantly unless the wound was caused by an angelic weapon. Castiel has accelerated healing abilities. He can instantaneously regenerate from injuries caused by earth-based weapons. However, he takes somewhat longer to heal damages caused by angelic weaponry.
Nerf: will work but deplete his grace much faster, prompting him to rest for longer periods of time.
Warp: if regenerating within 10 ft of another person that person will take on their injuries.

Photokinesis / Holy White Light / Smiting – the Killing Touch. A holy light is emitted by the angel that kills everything it touches. Angels emit a holy white light from their vessel which gets forced into their opponent burning them from the inside out. Angels can smite demons and monsters in addition to humans, although this ability won't work on a demon if it's too strong or the angel is too weak. When smiting an opponent, a strong white light appears from the eyes and mouth of the victim and burns them from the inside out.
Nerf: will work but deplete his grace much faster, prompting him to rest for longer periods of time. During events, if a power hierachy exists monsters/demons/beings with the hierarchy of low, mid, and high, he'll only be able to use this ability on low-level and mid level creatures, and not on high level ones. If event monsters/situations are part of the plot, then this ability will abide by the event/monster rules.

Apporting - ability to disassemble matter and reassemble somewhere else. This is a similar ability to teleportation except teleporting refers to one's own body where apporting refers to foreign bodies. Castiel has touched many hunters and moved them instantly to wherever he wants. Usually, Cas uses this ability to remove blood from his vessel leaving him looking pristine. Wings are required to apport.
Nerf: limited; distance of the town.
Warp: a feeling of entanglement of an invisible force will push back on him preventing him from going more than 10 miles.

Teleportation – able to travel from one place to another instantly without occupying the space in between. An angel needs his wings to teleport.
Nerf: limited; distance of the town.
Warp: a feeling of entanglement of an invisible force will push back on him preventing him from going anywhere he's not meant to.

Additional Powers (will not gain back/work)

Invisibility – ability to render oneself unseen. Since Castiel is an angel, his invisibility may be linked to being on a different plane of reality. Only those with Supernatural Perception can see them.
Nerfwill not work at all.

Soul Reading/Channeling – By pushing his hand into a person's chest, Castiel can determine the condition of a person's soul, and if the soul was branded by a deal. He can also siphon energy from or completely absorb a soul to recharge and enhance his powers. The process is extremely painful and delicate, having been noted by Castiel as putting one's hand into a nuclear reactor and causing the person to explode should anything go wrong. Castiel displayed this ability to strengthen himself with by siphoning some of Bobby's soul when he depleted too much of his grace and couldn't bring back Sam and Dean from the past where he had sent them (chronokinesis). Later, he siphoned the energy of 50,000 souls from Hell and again when he absorbed all the 30-40 million souls of Purgatory to evolve into a mutated angel.
Nerf: will not work at all.
Vessel Locking – Castiel has displayed the ability to grab a demon's smoke form and force it back into its body to smite it.
Nerf:
 will not work at all.

Mental Manipulation – By placing his hand on a person's forehead, he's able to manipulate a person's mind, being able to create, erase or alter memories or simply alter their perception of events altogether. He was able to transfer the mental damage from Sam to himself. He is also able to show a person the true version of their memories, not just the version they choose to remember. This is shown when he makes Dean see what really happened when he escaped Purgatory. It wasn't that Dean didn't save him, it was that Castiel didn't want to be saved. Later on, he's able to discover who Rowena truly loved by searching her memories, when she claimed she loved no one.
Nerf: only w/permission.
Warp: if enforcing a particular feeling or trying to gain insight to a character, he will be subjected to the same feelings and intrusion.

Hypnotism - by touching someone's head, he can hypnotize a person and give them commands. He used this to hypnotize a secret service agent into not seeing him and gave him further instructions.
Nerf:
 only w/permission.
Warp: if enforcing a particular feeling or trying to gain insight to a character, he will be subjected to the same feelings and intrusion; furthermore, he cannot control another character without also being forced to do what he is tring to make the other character do.

Chronokinesis -
ability to manipulate the passage of time, including traveling back in time or forward which sets an angel to a possible future that may or may not happen.
     * Time Travel: Highly advanced chronokinetic method for transporting someone either back or forward in time.
Angels can achieve it, but it's not easy to perform, even with the help of Heaven. Fallen angels who have been disconnected from Heaven have a difficult time doing it, and it can be quite damaging to the angel and may even kill them.

     * Wings: An angel cannot travel through time without wings.

Nerf: Will not work at all.

Resurrection - the power to revive the deceased. Angels can bring the dead back to life, resurrect them, but it's an extremely difficult power to harness. Castiel brought Dean and Bobby back from the dead.
Nerf: will not work at all.

Abilities

Basic Hunting Skills – Demons and monsters are afraid of angels. Angels know of them but don't interfere with them unless they get in their way.  While angels know how to set devil traps and have knowledge of how to kill a monster, they tend to simply overpower their foes and use their grace to kill them which leaves their eyes burnt out.

Hand-to-Hand Combatant –
shown himself to be a skilled hand-to-hand fighter. He's shown to disarm many angels and come out on top when fighting against more th with Angelic weaponry and then use that weapon to kill them. He has proven capable of fighting his lesser angelic brethren with ease. This skill remained with him as he became a fallen Seraph or even human, as he managed to kill an angel in a broken bus without his powers. Castiel even held off two Leviathans with only his fists.

Limited Cosmic Awareness – possesses a superhuman level of intelligence and awareness of the universe. Information is seared into his mind by god (factory settings) granting him knowledge of demons, other angels, weapons of Heaven, symbols, spells, artifacts, names of prophets, and more. Also have awareness of the power level of a being.

Multilingualism - due to their age, angels are proficient in most, if not all, languages ever spoken on earth.

Enochian Symbols/Sigils – Castiel is shown using Enochian symbols for spellwork. Some spells he's used are: Devil's Trap that can completely suppress and bind a strong demon, banishing sigil, sigil to ward off angels, sigils to hide a soul from all of Heaven, tracking spells and protective spells, etc.

Weaknesses

Angelic Exorcism - there is an exorcism chant to expel angels from their human vessels and send them back to heaven.

Anti-Angelic Chants - some Enochian chants can cause an angel severe pain

Angel Banishing Sigil - Enochian Sigil capable of banishing angels.

Angel Depowering Sigil -
Enochian Sigil capable of depowering an angel.

Angel Imprisoning Sigil -
Enochian Sigil capable of temporarily imprisoning an angel. When imprisoned an angel can also lose their powers temporarily. The sigil blocks any sound from inside of the warded room to be heard by any angels in or outside the room.

Angel Proofing Sigil -
Enochian Sigil that prevents an angel from entering a room, or listening to sounds coming from inside

Angel Trap -
Enochian based symbols capable of trapping an angel besides Holy Fire.

Alcohol - A whole liquor store supply of alcohol is sufficient enough to cause a normal angel, cut off from Heaven's power, to become intoxicated.

Angel Ward -
Enochian based symbols that prevent an angel from entering a place that is marked with angel wards.

Enochian Brass Knuckles - carved with Enochian sigils into the metal, these magical knuckles can hurt/weaken an angel.

Grace Removal -
an angel's grace is what supplies them with Enochian magic. If it's removed, they will be rendered powerless and mortal.

Hand of God - items that contain a portion of God's power, powerful enough to harm an archangel.

Hexbag - used in witchcraft, can be used to prevent angels from detecting and finding someone.

Holy Fire - made from Holy Oil, if an angel is encased in a circle of flames created by Holy Oil, they will be trapped. If they touch the flame they will kill both the vessel and the angel. However, it did not work on the Archangel Micheal, but it did trap the other archangels.

Hyperbolic Pulse Generator - capable of exorcising an angel.

Magic - Castiel once stated that if the right spells were cast upon a book, reading it could potentially kill him. Rowena, a witch, was also able to restrain and curse Castiel.

Soul Detection - When Enochian sigils are placed on human rib cages, they prevent any angel from detecting or finding them.

Vessel Expulsion - a vessel possesses the ability to expel the angel possessing them if they so choose depending on their strength of will and willingness to be possessed.

Weapons of Heaven - some of these heavenly weapons can harm an angel. Lot's Salt dissolved an archangel's vessel.

Weak Vessel - heaving a weak vessel prevents an angel from using their full power. An angel's true vessel can contain the angel without falling apart. An angel can take a vessel that is not their true vessel for some time before the vessel implodes. Vessel's are carefully watched over by cupids who make sure certain bloodlines thrive since strong vessels come from these bloodlines.

Damage/Loss of Wings - having their wings damaged stops them from using their ability to teleport or travel through time.

Naomi's Drill - Naomi, a high level angel, possessed a drill that she could use to remove an angel's memories and brainwash them back to factory settings making them more obedient soldiers.

Lance of Michael - this weapon is capable of poisoning and killing angels.

Angel Blade - a mortal wound to the vessel from an angel blade will kill the angel

Angel-Killing Bullets - bullets forged from the melted-down angel blades are capable of killing an angel if a mortal wound is inflicted with the bullet.
