[ A troubled look mars his face unable to comprehend the string of messages left on his device. He scrolls through each one convinced there's a misunderstanding here. Why would some stranger miss him? It's all rather disconcerting. ]
I think you have the wrong number.
[ Sam told him about those odd occurrences, so he knows how to handle it. ]
[it isn't the text that has him scrambling to respond. instead, it's the name attached to it. he'd thought, after all those days of silence, that castiel was ignoring him. as much as it hurt to believe, it was still better than the alternative. still better to be ignored by choice rather than an inability to respond.
but then castiel's name flashes up on his phone, and jack...
[it's the part that stands out, more than any of the questions. sure, he knows that castiel hasn't even met his mom yet. but he knew who jack was, even before he arrived here. so...something must have happened. something to change all that]
I live with Sam and Dean. Not the ones who are here though.
[ He relaxes a little at the mention of the brothers, but it's short-lived. For one, the brothers didn't live anywhere and two, Sam was locked up in the cage with Lucifer and Micheal. A thought that he hones in on the moment he mentions Lucifer. ]
Lucifer is locked up.
You would know that if you knew either Sam or Dean. So, who are you?
[ A surge of panic rings through him, clutching at his throat as he probes the area for his brother. He hits a wall almost immediately, the same one that prevented him from flying back to Heaven. ]
Where is he?!
[ He demands, already putting together an attack strategy. How did he get out? Dean's name rings in his mind as he reads the latter half of the message. ]
[ His stomach drops. Whether it's from the thought that Dean went and messed with the cage or the familial claim, he doesn't know, but it serves to halt him in place. ]
I'm sorry.[ He shakes his head. ] But I'm not your father.
[he hates this. hates all of it. without castiel in front of him, he has no way of knowing if he's hurt. if there's something wrong that he can help the angel with that will undo the past few minutes. but with all that he's saying, jack isn't sure he could deal with being forgotten like this, face to face. it's hard enough as it is]
What happened to you? Why don't you remember me anymore?
Are you saying my memories have been tampered with? Is that what happens in this place?
[ He doesn't believe it. He can't. An angel's memories weren't so easily manipulated, but then... angels weren't so easy to imprison. He's only been awake a few hours, but already he's gathered enough information to give him an idea of what's going on. Nothing good, obviously, but he never suspected memory manipulation. ]
I don't know. You knew who I was, before. But now you don't. And I don't know how to fix that.
[maybe he should've joined sam on more of those information gathering trips. but if he can get back to deerington, he can at least check through the notes again to see if there's something he's missed.
though, hold on-]
You've been here longer than any of us. Wouldn't you know if this has happened before?
it takes a few minutes before he responds. time spent trying to work out what he can actually say to that. if castiel just arrived here, that has to mean that the one he knew had gone home. and he has no idea how to feel about that.]
People come here from different moments in time. You haven't been here before.
[ Kelly Kline? The name stirs nothing within him, though the idea of protecting her doesn't seem out of place. He's a soldier. It was his job to protect innocent souls. ]
Jack. I don't think you understand. I can't be your father. I'm an angel of the Lord.
[ Yet, his insistence does lead him to question what kind of future lies ahead of him. ]

is left confused.]
No. You're Castiel, aren't you?
It's Jack.
no subject
Yes, my name is Castiel.
[ He looks at his username and thinks he should have used 'Beyonce' instead. Next time. ]
I don't know a Jack. Who are you and how did you get this number?
[ Then, as an after thought: ] Are you a Hunter?

Did something happen to you? Was it Lucifer?

Lucifer is locked up.

I mean the Lucifer who's here. Did he hurt you?
And I told you who I am. My name's Jack. You're my father.
[he's never missed having sam around half as much as he does right now]

I don't see how that's possible when I just woke up here today.

[ Sorry Jack, but he's trying to put pieces together that don't fit. He's an angel. He's not a father. ]
I heard about the timeline discrepancies.
[ He's been awake a few hours. He didn't waste that time standing idly by. ]
And you think... I was here before? That I'm your father? [ He shakes his head. ] Jimmy only had a daughter, Claire.

[as for jimmy and claire, he's clueless. but it doesn't matter, as far as he's concerned. not when he already knows who his parents are]
I know you have no reason to believe me. But I wouldn't lie. Especially not to you.
You're my father.
