[ His head snaps to the sky snatching the prayer from thin air before his wings beat down slicing through space and time to reach him before the sound of his name fades. The sound of wings herald his arrival and the angel of Thursday finds himself facing the young Nephilim with only a few feet separating them. ]
Jack. Tell me everything.
[ His voice, normally deep and neutral, cuts with a sharpness fueled by simmering anger impossible for the angel to detach himself from. ]
[he already looks apologetic, even before he starts to speak. he hadn't wanted to hide any of this. but he'd known, at the time, that it wouldn't help. that until castiel had recovered, telling him about lucifer wouldn't change a thing.
and so he'd just...kept it to himself, despite how uncomfortable it had felt. sure, it wasn't a lie. but an omission isn't that far off.]
It was about two weeks ago. I didn't...ask to talk to him. I just- I went to sleep. And then he was there. He said that Sam told him about me. So he wanted to...meet me.
[he frowns a little at that. at the idea of sam having told others. of having told lucifer, of all people]
I don't think he knows what I am. He knows that Sam's...taking care of me. But he doesn't know why. I...didn't tell him.
[ Two weeks? Why did he wait so long to tell him? Did something happen between then and now? ]
What did Sam tell him?
[ It's the first words out of his mouth, his thoughts already racing with the possibilities, nodding when Jack continues. ]
Don't.
[ His hand stretches out ready to settle on his shoulder. ] Jack. You can't tell him.
Not yet. Let me talk to him first. Figure out what he wants.
[ Maybe then... but the thought of letting his brother near a human-angel hybrid feels like a disaster waiting to happen. But then again, if Jack wanted too... ]
Lucifer thinks that Sam's my dad. He...doesn't know the truth.
[as curious as lucifer may have been, jack did his best to keep the truth to himself. to sidestep questions and focus on getting the information he wanted instead. he may not have been particularly good at keeping those transitions smooth, but at least lucifer had played along]
He doesn't know that you're my father either. If he finds out- I don't want him to hurt you.
You're my father. We're family. That means...we look after each other.
[so if that means facing down lucifer, he'd do it. wouldn't even think twice about it. he's already lost castiel once by his hand. he refuses to let that happen a second (third) time.]
You...don't have to keep me safe from him. He isn't going to hurt me.
[confuse him, sure. make him question everything that the winchesters, that castiel has told him, definitely. but lucifer sees him as the son of the one human who he appears to actually care about. in his own, complicated way.]
[ After all that he's told him. After all that he knows. It's too much to overlook when the archangel was already afoot harassing the people he cared about. ]

instead, after a few moments of indecision, he looks up to the sky and says a quiet-]
Castiel?
[it's a request for the angel to come. for them to have this conversation in person instead]

[ He reaches forward to grip his arm, locking eyes with him in firm resolution. ]
You're not responsible for me. Lucifer. Or anyone else. Do you understand?

As long as he thinks Sam's my dad, he won't...do anything.
